I remember those moments
Where we made a promise
To be as happy as in a fairy-tale story.
We would always seek together the next part.
Wondering where life would take us.
I miss you.
There were the times when you
Made me smile with that smile of yours. These were the moments
I loved of us.
These times would assure the promise
That we would never part,
Like another fairy-tale story.
Our cherished time together would be spent telling each other stories,
And laughing about you
Or even me. But this was the joy in having a part
In a relationship. Such moments
Would be kept in the flash of a camera, keeping our promise
Saved in photographs of us.
Everyone believed in who we would be, in us,
That no one could copy a story
like ours. Everyone was sure our promise
Would be upheld, but what about you?
What about all our moments,
Or did you really plan on playing a part?
I guess it was a fault on my part
To believe in us,
To believe that what happened in our moments
Were really true. I was too childish to believe in our story
And that my “Prince Charming” would be you.
Now, it’s time to make a new promise.
Not one to you, but a promise
To myself. It’s time to look at the next part,
A life without you.
I need to find me a new “us”,
Waking up from this fairy-tale story.
It’s time to move on from the past moments.
I look past at those moments promised in the photographs,
Remembering what it meant to be with you, what it meant to be us.
Now, I only wonder about the next part of my story.
