Love Not Forgotten

He would hold me closely and so tight
Sigh and whisper softly in my ear
Saying everything is all right
Shouted “I love you!” for all to hear
Could I have known where he’d lead me to
He placed that future noose ‘round my neck
I love him with all I have, I do
He cursed me with lies that gave me heck
But as I lay here, I will forgive
But I do know I will never forget
I did grant him all I had to give
But that love, he will nevermore get
