Why Not?
“The common question that gets asked in business is, ‘why?’ That’s a good question, but an equally valid question is, ‘why not?’” – Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon. Why not have unlimited potential and freedom while doing something you love? Why settle for anything less than your dreams? Well one of my personal dreams is to be a business owner. I know how to do it, how I would do it, and I have so many reasons as to why I would do it. So as Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, might tell you don't ask why you should own your own business but why not. My dream job is to run my own business because I do not think anyone could do it as well as me, I do not like the idea of limited potential, and I do not like being bossed around.
I think I could run a business very well and efficiently. I would hire based on a quality over quantity biases, based on intelligence and work ethic. I would hire hard workers that know what they're doing, and pay them well, instead of hiring new people all the time and paying them dirt so they leave. This causes deficiency, and I want to be efficient and have workers that can run the place while I’m gone. If they run into problems while I’m gone I want to have people smart enough to figure it out. Also I would invest and for the first few years of being in business I would put almost everything I had back into the company. An important part to owning a business is that you need to know how to manage money. I already have a solid base on how to manage money and after four years of entrepreneurship and business school I would be in good shape. I’m good with money and I know people, such as relatives, that are good with money that could help me out if I was struggling. I would be fine if I were struggling though because struggling for a little while with something you love is better than not having chances to advance in the future, like I would with my own business.
I hate the idea of limited salary and potential in a career. The idea of sitting behind a desk and making millions of dollars for someone else drives me nuts. If I am going to work hard my whole life why would I do it for someone else? Why not have something to call my own and be proud of when it is all said and done? I do not want to work my entire life to advance some other CEO’s dream. I still want other people to follow the social normality of working for someone else because I’m going to need workers but I’m just not going to be one of those workers that work for minimal pay. The world revolves around money. Everything in our modern lives requires you to have money, and well some might say money doesn't buy happiness, I would disagree. I don’t want to work, and work, and work and be living paycheck to paycheck for my first 10 years out of college. By that time I will have my business up and running and I’ll be making big money. I don't want someone to tell me, “You're going to make x amount of money this year.” I want to have the potential to make as much money as the company makes without restrictions. I want that unlimited potential for success and profit and I want to be able to buy the things I want to buy with all of the money I will make from my business.
I would love to be my own boss and not have to listen to anybody tell me what to do and when to do it. I do not like when people try to tell me what to do when I disagree with what they have to say. When you are your own boss you don’t have to listen to anybodies ideas but your own. You will not have to be force fed the ideas of your employer and have to work for something you do not want to. I want to be the one force feeding the ideas and making people do what I want them to. I want to give people a schedule but I want to choose when I have time off, restriction free. One of my goals in my life is to be able to travel. I want to go all over the world and not have to worry about getting fired because I miss time at work. With everything being online now in this day and age it's pretty easy to do anything anywhere from any place on earth. I would easily be able to manage expenses and watch my place via cameras from anywhere in the world thanks to wireless Internet. It would be so easy to run a business and travel anywhere in the world at the same time it's almost like I’ll never work a day in my life. I think this would be very cool and a lot of fun, with a lot less restrictions than working for someone else. This is one of my favorite aspects of owning your own business and it is how I would do it.
I want to run my own business for a lot of beneficial reasons. I would be good at running a business and I would know how to bring in money. Also I have the drive and ability that I don't want to have the limited potential that comes along with a conventional job. Finally I would love it because I want to be my own boss and I don't like being pushed around. So why not do the thing you love and the thing you are good at?
