Why do I have to go to school every day? What’s the big deal?
Ever asked this question? I did. I’m Myra and I hated school and I’m going to tell you a short story of what I realized as a got older about education! Ever year they made me go back. How much more could I possibly need to know?! Well, I’m here to let you in on a little secret that you at first may not believe……………education IS IMPORTANT! Shocking I know. But it is true. Why is the sky blue? Why do I have 10 toes? What is Mars made up of? How do you build an airplane? Everybody knows the answers right? Of course you don’t! You’re still learning. How did the Wright brothers build an airplane? They studied different motor vehicles designs and aerospace engineering and where able to do the impossible, build an airplane! You know the airplanes you see in the sky you might have even ridden on one? Well, people learned more, studied more, and were able to develop better airplanes like the ones you see. If it weren’t for the education and knowledge that went into that that never could have happened. It took educated people to build and create all the things you see in your everyday lives. And it’s your responsibility to expand the world even more with everything you can. Yes, there is something that you can offer the world. I didn’t believe it at first. I thought yeah yeah I can be whatever I want to be. Then I realized it’s TRUE! Maybe I will be the scientist who cures cancer or ends world hunger or discovers how to create a cleaner and environment friendly world. Maybe I will be a comedian and bring people together with joy and laughter. Maybe I will an astronaut and be the first person on Pluto. Maybe I will be the president of the world, of the universe! Maybe I will be the one to discover the meaning of life. Maybe you will be these things, but where do we begin? Where to you begin to discover and understand the world you live in? Where do you get the answers to all your questions? Well guess what I discovered? It starts with education. It starts with school, with waking up every day and going there, with doing your homework, with trying your best, with being kind, and asking questions. So I set goals even crazy ones like being the one who builds a time machine! I know that someone has probably already told you this but you can be anything you want to be. It’s your choice. You can do anything. Education gives you that opportunity. And not all boys and girls get this opportunity. It’s a treasure, a gift, it’s the reason that you live in the world you live in, and the reason your possibilities are endless like even building a time machine. Yeah school is a pain sometimes, but it’s really the most important thing in your life and the most precious.

All through life we think we know everything there is to know, but we really don't. This school year I have been surprised by how many cool things I have been learning about, especially history and science. I think its important for people to know about the past and understand the world they live in order for us to move forward and continue as a society. I think education should be a top priority.
