Where do I begin? The state of Massachusetts is world renowned for their medical community but they have dropped the ball. The dropped ball is promising their patients one thing and going around and completely avoiding it, leaving them in pain.

In November 2012, the state voted yes on medical Marijuana. Two years have later since the law was passed and there is still no dispensaries in Massachusetts. This leads me to think , are the patients ever going to receive what they need? I believe that this is the same thing as basically refusing to give a patient their prescribed medication which any doctor would say is not right. The Department of Public Health has eleven applicants that are almost there to actually become a dispensary but still nothing has happened in two years. Imagine the pain people who are prescribed to it are going through, it’s pretty ridiculous.

One veteran of the United States Air Force, Troy Sweder, is left in pain because of service injuries caused him to have neuropathic pain. Imagine how many other people are suffering in pain like him? The state of Massachusetts is delaying this process more and more each year, they could of allowed caregivers to take care of these patients in pain until the dispensaries are open. In my opinion, I feel as if this will be something that won’t be fixed until 2015 with Patrick still has governor.

As a resident of Massachusetts and a daughter of a person with a medical card, I can see the pain these patients are going through each day. They are left in indigenizing pain as they wait and wait for their pain to be taken care of and after two years who know how much longer these people can cope with it. There are doctors,Dr. Thor Agustsson, in Burlington,MA who are trying to help these patients. They’re giving out medical cards to people who actually need them and not just to people who want to get stoned. The doctors believe that medical marijuana is better for their patients instead of pills because the pills can leave serve impacts on a person. A lot of antipsychotics, a lot of mood stabilizers are a lot more harmful to the body on a whole. The only thing these doctors can’t do is help them get the marijuana because the Public Health is not helping them deal with making it accessible.

The residents of Massachusetts have voted yes for medical marijuana two years ago and there is still nothing in this state for their patients. Why? Because they want to make sure it’s done correctly. Well it should be done correctly but it should not take two years because people have been suffering for longer than that and now they have to wait longer and suffer more. They want it done correctly to make sure the patients are not put to harm because of the treatments. This is not right to us, the residents of Massachusetts watching people suffer because the state is messing up yet again. People who are suffering vary from all different types of diseases like cancer, Crohn’s  disease, HIV, AIDS and many more. In my opinion they need to supply these patients with the marijuana so they don’t have to suffer any more because as residents of Massachusetts they have the right to have marijuana but the state is not helping them out in the mean time while they wait for the dispensaries. How would the state like to sit in pain for two years while they’re supposed to be out of it by now?
