Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is a hospital in downtown Dallas founded in 1921 by the Masons and now run by many caring volunteers and doctors. This place should be considered a great cause because they help children from birth to age eighteen with orthopedic disabilities.

Club feet, hand disorders, limb lengthening, and scoliosis are a few of the things the doctors at Scottish Rite Hospital can repair to the best of their ability. As a leading pediatric orthopedic center, the hospital has treated more than 200,000 children since its inception, with more than 40,000 clinic visits each year, The hospital takes a multidisciplinary approach to care, tailoring treatment to the individual needs of each child and family, states the website teamcody.com. With statistics and facts like these the hospital is definitely top notch and patients and families of patients would completely agree. The doctors are all friendly, the lobby always smells of fresh popcorn, there’s games and a playground for entertainment, and the patients are always smiling because they know they are in good hands.

With a facility as wonderful as this one who didn’t know much about TSRSC might think the bill at the end would be enormous. But the truth is, there is no bill. The tsrhc.com website explains that the hospital was established in 1921 when a group of Texas Masons approached Dallas' first orthopedic surgeon Dr. W. B. Carrell about caring for children with polio regardless of the family's ability to pay. With the introduction of the Salk and Sabin vaccines in the mid-1950s, which virtually eradicated polio in the western hemisphere, TSRHC broadened its focus to other orthopedic conditions. If a child needs a brace or surgery the hospital will make sure it’s all covered, that they understand what’s happening to their body and that it will all be okay.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children relies on donations to continue doing the fantastic job they have been doing since 1921. Events such as the Dallas White Rock Marathon and Dallas Sporting Clay Shoot support TSRHC and are the perfect way to get involved; the hospital’s website also has a “DONATE NOW” button if interested. TSRHC has been open 90 years and could potentially help more children for many more years if people continue to support and spread the word. If you know anyone who has been helped or may qualify to be helped please join the club and make a donation to make many children smile.
