In the way
I am not remarkable. I am not special. I can hardly be called anything. A girl, a child, a nobody. I don’t do anything remarkable, and most certainly never will. I am just a girl trying not to get in the way. I don’t want to cause anyone any trouble. If anything I want to help them, make them happier, but all I ever do is get in the way.
Sometimes I like to pretend I make a difference, that I have something to contribute to this world, that I am making life easier for everybody, but that charade doesn’t last long. But maybe, just maybe, it isn’t a façade.
I can’t change the world. I can’t change those around me, or the amount of happiness they have. The only thing I can change is me. What I do, how I react. That’s all I can do. I can’t make people any happier than they allow me to. It’s those moments they allow me to change them a little, make them happier, that I feel of any worth.
So will you let others make you happy? Maybe then we can all have some peace of mind.
