What is time really?

I was watching a famous movie called Interstellar when a question crossed my mind:
Does the human brain have pre-existing algorithms or conditions in place to identify its own mistakes, such as those made in learning, reasoning, or decision-making? In other words, does every mistake made by the human brain have a pre-defined algorithm or condition for correction already in place?
Perhaps this is like a journey through time, just like in the movie, like a hill that one can climb up and come down.
