Greece: The Place to be
Some of my favorite moments in life have come on my family vacations. I love seeing historic sites, trying new foods, embracing new cultures and spending a relaxing time with my family. I have been fortunate to experience many different trips, but the place that I enjoyed the most was Greece. It has beautiful mountains and beaches, outstanding food and amazing historical sites. I learned many interesting things about Greek history and culture. I have wonderful memories of the time I spent in Santorini and Mykonos, and if I could go back, I would not change one thing.
I will never forget the unbelievable views I was able to experience from my hotel rooms in Santorini and Mykonos. We also went on a couple of tours and a boat ride that gave me an opportunity to explore the island’s beauty. One day, we went on a wine tour with my parents and enjoyed some really tasty cheese as well! We also got to walk around the cities. In Mykonos, we seemed to get lost just about every day, but we had so much fun finding new shops and restaurants on these adventures. Aside from walking by these places, we enjoyed interacting with the local owners of the unique shops. Overall, there were so many historic sights and beautiful views that I’d love to experience again.
The food quality and variety was top notch. We visited a number of different restaurants for lunch and dinner and were never disappointed. Whether it was a random lunch spot in the middle of the town, or a fancy restaurant next to the water, the food was amazing every time. Additionally, we got to experience the sunset each night during dinner. This only made it more special. Finally, I enjoyed trying some new foods that I had never eaten before, and was always satisfied. For example, I ate my first Gyro in Mykonos, and it quickly became one of my favorite things to order. When I had one for the first time, it was at a tiny restaurant in the middle of the town. The waiter came over and gave me a huge plate with so much food on it that my jaw dropped. The gyros weren’t the only good foods though, just about everything there was delicious. I was always looking forward to my next meal when staying in Greece.
Greece is also one of the most historic places in the world. During our day trip to Athens, it was awesome learning about Greek history and their culture. Athens, one of the most historic cities in the world, was full of unreal buildings, temples, churches, and sculptures that you would not see anywhere else. There were so many great sights that I took countless photos of. This includes the Acropolis, which was fascinating to see and learn about. Later in the trip, we traveled to a separate island, called Delos. Delos is an island located in the middle of the Aegean Sea, close to Mykonos. We were taken on a tour with many other people. The tour guide told us about the Ancient Greeks daily life and the community that they lived in. Some of the facts that we learned were hard to believe, as the Ancient Greeks did things that no one would do today. For instance, Greeks would have to fight to the death in the old Olympics. It was fascinating to learn about the unique culture and lifestyle that they had.
There were so many great things about Greece that I would definitely want to see again. The outstanding views and fun towns are things that I will never forget. The food selection and quality was nothing short of amazing. The history behind Greece, including their unique culture and lifestyles are still things that fascinate me to this day. Most of all, there was a great vibe when in Greece, making daily life a great experience. There were always things to do. Even when you were getting tired in the late afternoon, there was nothing like laying down on a couch on a balcony, seeing the beautiful sunset. Greece is definitely the place to pick when in need of a getaway from home.
