The Dominator
“It felt unreal, it still hasn’t sunk in that we won it all.” Dom Todarello, senior at Arrowhead High School says about winning the Division One Football State Championship. The Arrowhead Warhawks defeated the Sun Prairie Cardinals, 35 to 14. With an undefeated season, the Warhawks were ecstatic to leave Camp Randall with the final win on their record.
Todarello, a three sport athlete—basketball, football and baseball—says he has come close to winning state championships before but couldn’t finish. The Warhawks last football state championship was in 2007 against Homestead’s Highlanders, Todarello being on varsity for all four seasons of his high school career was honored to have been a part of a state championship his senior year.
“I don’t really think on the field, I just play the game.” Todarello says about what’s going through his head during the game. There’s a rush of emotions on the field, excitment, nervous, anxious, even intimidation. When asked if he was intimidated by the other players on the opposing team, Todarello says “No, it’s hard to be intimidated when you have so many other great players around you that the other team has to worry about.”
Todarello has his final season on the varsity baseball team coming soon and hopes to end that season the same way he ended football, with the state championship.
