Davy the Bunny
When I was about six years old I got my very first pet. We were in downtown L.A during summer vacation. Every corner had a vendor of fruit, toys, food, and pets. I was only six I didn’t know what I wanted until I stopped at a vendor with pets. There were cute little baby turtles in plastic tanks with bright cute color rims and goldfish. I did not want a turtle I wanted a bunny. My pupils grew in amazement as a saw my first rabbit in person I usually only say rabbits only during Easter, or in books. He was the size of an adult palm. White and light brown with beautiful black beady eyes. I begged for the bunny. “Can we get it please?” my big sister brought it out of love. I don’t remember but I’d say he was about twenty bucks. When I got home I was so excited to show my parents. Me and my sister Kimi walked to the pet store and brought him rabbit food immediately. What should we name him? My sister said. I like snowball. I said. “No we will name him Davy she mentioned.” I was a little mad because his name, but I said forget it. Davy was the cutest little bunny ever. It always used to walk around the house leave tiny poops that looked like hershey kisses on the side of the carpet. My mom didn’t like that. One time I ate his bunny food. A yogurt chip it wasn’t that bad my sister dared me to. I used to buy Davy carrots and lettuce for his nutrition all the time. When I was out of town with my siblings my dad would watch him. He called him Buggs for BuggsBunny. My sister got so attached that she brought him a bunny leash to walk him to the grocery store. When I was sad I would always pet Davy to make me feel better. Sometimes when I was bored I would keep him company. Me and my nephew one time tried to make it a bunny obstacle for fun. But he wasn’t as smart as a mouse. We would swing him in a blanket like how my siblings did when I was small. One time he accidently flew and hit the wall. But he never scratched me or got mad he was welcomed and loved and he knew it. I had such good memories and times with Davy until one night I visited his home and saw a patch of blood by his leg. I was terrified and ran to tell my sister. Came to find out he was eating himself. How could a bunny do it!? I thought it was my mom’s fault because she would always make oxtails and the smell was good and strong to baby Davy. He knew he was meat. You wouldn’t believe it but Rabbit Suicide was the end of our strong relationship. My dad grabbed a box. “Where you going?” I cried, He sent him out to cold real world of the wilderness park where Reggie the Alligator died. I was very upset. My bestest friend and first pet was gone. Only thing left was our memories.
