Everyone knows the saying “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Yeah, that’s not true. Sure sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will hurt my ego, my confidence, and my heart. The worst type of pain is a heartbreak. You can put a band-aid on a cut, wrap a sprained ankle, put neosporin on an infection, put a cast on broken bones, even get stitches. Not with words they stick and they go deep. They are not easily forgotten. Yes, a deep wound will leave a scar but over time it fades and goes away. Words play over and over like a song stuck on repeat. They tell us we're not good enough to try, not pretty enough to be liked by someone, not strong enough to carry on. Guess what! You are good enough to try, someone likes you, and you can carry on. Someone else’s words don’t define who you are and how you do things. They get to watch you rise above it and prove them wrong because they know they never will. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but you’ll be up there all alone” Don’t put someone down you up. It won’t build you up in the end.
