The Time We Lost Max and Jasmine

TQuick grab that leash, I thought to myself.  Before I even knew it, Max was gone!

It all started on a lovely day when the sun was shining. There was a nice cool breeze, and the temperature was just right. It was a simply perfect day to go to the beach. It took about a half an hour long drive to get there, but we made it.

Daddy, Jasmine, my dog Max, and I got out of the car, got the cooler, and started to walk up the sand dune. We reached the top and laid out the blanket. While Daddy was setting up the picnic, my sister Jasmine and I grabbed the towels and raced down the steaming hot sand dune. We wanted to get down to the beach to take a swim in the nice, cool, relaxing water. After we swam for a while, Daddy called Jasmine and me up the sand dune to watch Max while Jasmine and he quickly went to the car to grab the water.

Onec they left, I tied Max’s leash to the tree so I could go play on the log. Ten minutes later I came back to check up on Max. When I came back Max had just got himself untied and started to run off. Before I even knew it, Max was gone!

I tried to catch him but he was too fast for me to be able to. So I came back to the picnic and heard something coming up the sand dune. I thought it was Max so I started screaming at the top of my lungs, “Max, Max come here boy!”

But it wasn’t him. Instead it was my Dad coming up the sand dune looking for Jasmine. When he got up the sand dune he ask me “Is Jasmine with you?”

“No she isn’t ... why, isn’t she with you?” I asked.

“No I thought I left her here with you and... where's Max?”

“Ummmm... Max ran away,” I said quietly because was afraid my dad would yell at me.

“Okay then let's go look for them.” He didn’t yell, but I could tell he was worried.

“Okay.” I said

So we went everywhere: up and down every sand dune, looked in the woods, went up and down the road. We couldn’t find them anywhere.

Finally we went down to where the bridge was to see if Jasmine was there  and we found a police officer. So we ran over to the police officer to ask him for help. The cop said he would help and started asking some questions like what they looked like and some other questions.

Then he asked us,  “Did you look down on the beach?”

We said, “ yes, of course we did.”

Then he said, “Well I think we should look down there again, just in case she is there now.”

So we looked to see if Jasmine was down there and as soon as we turned around, we saw Jasmine running up the hill to get to us. We felt relieved that we found her and that she wasn’t kidnapped.

So we found Jasmine there at the beach and told her why the cop was there and what happened to Max.

“Hey it’s getting late how about you guys go home and put up flyers and keep on looking for him tomorrow?” said the cop.

So we went home and put up the fliers and everything. We even put it on the internet saying if you find this dog call the number on his tag and you will get a 100$ prize for finding. Him and two weeks later someone called and said that they found him.

From this experience I learned that you should always keep an eye on the ones you love because as soon as you look away they could be gone in a blink of an eye.
