Thunderhawk
I could feel the sweat dripping off my hands and my stomach turning as we got closer and closer to riding the Thunder Hawk. I was so nervous, I was shaking. Just listening to the screams of the other people riding made me feel much worse. There wasn’t much of a line, so soon enough we were next to go on the roller coaster.
“You scared?” my dad asked as I saw that there was only one person left until we rode.
“No, I think I can handle it. I just don’t know about you dad, are you scared?” I replied.
Before I knew it, it was our turn to go on the ride.
The woman on the intercom then exclaimed “Welcome oncoming riders onto The Thunder Hawk! When the gates open, step quickly and carefully into the seat in front of you and fasten your safety belt.”
The gate opened and I cautiously walked up to the huge mustard color rollercoaster. On the rollercoaster, the seats were purple, and there was a thing that goes over our shoulders, it protected us from falling off, it was orange. A really frightening part is that there was nothing underneath my feet, so they just dangled there. Luckily, only two people were in a row, so I didn't have to sit next to someone I don't know. I could just sit next to my dad.
“Alright riders, are you ready?”
“Woooo!!” I yelled as loud as I could, along with my dad.
“Alright riders, get ready, and enjoy your ride on the Thunderhawk!” The woman cheered on the intercom.
Click, click, click, click the rollercoaster clicked as we went up the first hill. It was so terrifying just going up that first hill. The ride haven’t even begun, and I was already freaking out, holding on to my dad’s hand. I looked down, and saw the ground below me slowly inching away as I made my way up. I had so many mixed emotions as I reached the top of the hill, fear, excitement, nervousness, tension. Then. The rollercoaster had came to a stop.
My stomach turned; I shut my eyes, thinking “Oh no. Oh no. Ohhh noo. I hate this part.”
Suddenly.. BOOM! My heart was in my throat, and the speed was slowly increasing more and more by the second. The wind rushing through my hair. We went upside down, side to side, up, down, and twisted around. I flew my hands in the air and screamed as loud as a wolf howling for it’s pack. My head flew forward, as we came to a stop. The rollercoaster gradually went toward the end of the ride, my head was spinning round and round like it never had before.
“Welcome back riders!” bursted the woman again, “And how was your ride?”
We all hollered.
“Great. Please push up on your restraints and don’t forget anything that you may have stored in a cubby on your way out. Enjoy the rest of your day at Michigan's Adventure!”
Pushing my restraints up, I crawled out of my seat, I could barely get up. My legs were shaking.
I thought to myself “That. Was. Amazing!”
I chuckled and walked over to my dad.
“Aww, I can’t believe it’s over?” I pouted as I looked over at my dad, “Can we go on again?! That was super fun!”
“Of course we can,” he boomed, “Luckily for us, there isn’t much of a line, so we can go on as many times as you want!”
I bolted to the entrance and we went on the ride about five or six more times. After that, we bought ice cream and took a long trip back home. In the end, I learned to get over my fears. Who knows, maybe you’ll love what you are afraid of, like I did.
