Mommy Daughter Gone Wrong
Think before you do anything, you never knows what going to happen.
Chapter 1: MOmmy Daughter Gone Wrong I think every girl has played the classic mommy daughter game at some point in her life. I know I have. It was my absolute favorite thing to do with my friends. Well it was, until the incident. By messing with something we had no idea about , my cousin Eva and I caused a whole lot of damage to our car, my neighbors car, and of course our parents trust. I learned my lesson that day; be careful what you’re messing with.
It was a regular day for me and my cousin. Her mom dropped her off at our house around 3 pm to spend the night and leave home the next day. It was like a regular routine. She came to my house almost every day, since we were about 8 and had nothing else to do and no school to worry about. Our favorite game to play together was “mommy daughter”. We dressed up and pretended to be a mommy and daughter. We took care of our play dolls, baked and dressed up.
We would usually have to earn our play time by finishing our homework or eating extra veggies, or something super cheesy like that. Before we played we always took a nap. Im not sure why, but my mom felt it was necessary. Of course being little we hated sleeping or anything in that matter that didn't involve any games or something of that sort. After my mom put us to sleep we snuck out around the back door from the hallway from my room. We didn’t have anywhere to play inside the house since my mom was there. Every other room was taken up by my other siblings, so we had no other choice but to go in the car. My mom had no idea, she thought we were sleeping so it was a win win for all of us.
We set up our blankets and dolls on the car seats, brought our tea sets and began to play. We were playing in our green Toyota van. It was a lot more crowded than the house but it was definitely better than laying in bed doing nothing. We really enjoyed the car since it only only was a house for us but also doubled as, well a car. We pretended to drive to work and school, and church and the stores. I remember sitting in the driver’s seat with Eva in the passengers. I kept messing around with the steering wheel and the audio system, switching the headlights on and off. Then we came up with the crazy idea to go grab the keys and start up the car. Obviously we weren’t planning to drive it but we thought it would make the “fake driving” seem more realistic. So we snuck back inside again. I still can’t figure how we managed to do that, but we did. Since it was one of the most adventurous things we did before, our hearts were beating really fast.
We got into the car and started it. The smiles on our faces lit up as we turned the steering wheel together from left to right. Eva turned up the music as we both started singing and dancing along to the song that was playing on the radio. That’s when we got out of control. We were so hyper and excited that we started pushing all the buttons and jumping around the whole car. I can’t imagine what it looked like for people from the outside. Since we were young and stupid we had no idea what anything in the car meant. We had no clue what the rear and parking meant. We barely even managed to start the car in the first place. Since I was so energetic at the time out of nowhere I pulled the transmission control switch down to R, which is rear. Thats when the car started rolling backwards on the driveway. My heart dropped and we both started freaking out and crying. You can just imagine the fear in our hearts as we slowly rolled back off the driveway and were heading towards the neighbor’s car who lived across the street. We instantly started pushing all the buttons as we were screaming and crying, and doing whatever we could possibly ever do, but we had no luck at all. It kept going and going until it finally bumped into our neighbors car. We stopped moving and both put our hands over our mouth and looked at each other. We knew we were screwed. It truly felt like the end of of our existence. I still remember the way my heart sunk and the tears were rolling down my face. This was definitely not what we had in mind when Eva’s mom dropped her off earlier. I thought it would be easier if the neighbors came out and saw for themselves than if we approached them.
So we sat and cried for about half an hour until we finally decided to go call my mom and show her the disaster. Getting out of the car and walking to my house was literally the walk of shame for both of us. When we got inside we had no words, only tears.. She knew it was something bad since we couldn't stop crying rivers. I grabbed her by the arm and led her outside. She gasped and just stood there for a solid five minutes. We were anxious to hear what she was going to say, even though it was clearly obvious. She started screaming, asking questions, wondering why we weren’t in bed, and most of all panicking about what my dad would say.
The hardest part was breaking the news to my neighbors. My mom forced us to go there and apologize. She told us there were consequences for our actions, which is true. It took us a long time to get the courage and go there, but in the end we did. We told our neighbors, my dad, and Eva’s parents. Of course they were all angry, but they forgave us, I hope. I had to clean the car for a month after that and Eva and I were both grounded from sleepovers for a while. My dad had to pay to get both our car and the neighbors fixed, which made both of us feel guilty. After everything went down thankfully I learned my lesson.
So I encourage you to be careful with what you mess with no matter how much fun youre having or how badly you want to do something. This experience really taught us both to be careful and do what our parents say. They know way more than me, even if I don't feel like it. Think before you do something, and if you ever have the choice, take a nap. Its safer.
