Glasses
Such is the life of a man who can and cannot see what’s there. I can see those trees glittering off in the distance with the rising sun, accompanied by a dew coating. Yet, I can’t see those natural and deteriorating designs embedded in the bark or of its leaves. I can see some little creature scurrying across the backyard, but without proper vision, it’s nothing more than a fuzzy blur of a thing. But, with my trusty glasses at hand, those missing details become clear to me once again. Now I can see how artistically attractive that tree’s bark is, as well as the lush, green, hearty leaves. Now I can that runaway blob as a wandering fox, probably looking for some meat or berries. I don’t know; foxes don’t usually show up around here. But then I immediately removed those glasses and some might question why one would want to rid their self of clear sight. Maybe it’s situational, perhaps its just distances I can’t make out. After all, I’m upstairs and the tree and fox stand a good several feet away outside. Maybe I’m self-conscious and still believe in the stigma of glasses being for geeks and dweebs. I mean, contacts do much of the same glasses do without adding apparent accessories on your face. Maybe they’re just a little too uncomfortable to wear casually 24/7 or I’m sensing a correlation between wearing glasses and eyelashes stuck in my eye. I wouldn’t tell my reasoning, that’ll be a secret, but regardless, for all the good glasses provide, some cons can co-exist with them. “Just get laser eye surgery when the time is right,” is what I always say.
