Dear Ana

Dear Ana,

You need to forgive yourself. You are so tough on yourself and continually put yourself down by insulting yourself. You need to respect yourself. Stop focusing on your flaws and shortcomings. Allow yourself to make mistakes because it is through mistakes that we learn.

You are afraid to speak and to ask questions for fear that others will judge you. Remember that when you ask the right questions, you will receive the right answers. I do not think that you realize what you are doing when you constantly put yourself down. When you do that, you begin to create a hate and bitterness inside against yourself. You are incapable of loving yourself!

Forgive yourself. Be kind to yourself. Realize that by putting yourself down, you hinder progress and personal growth. Do you understand that God loves you? He takes you in for who you are and pours out His unconditional love towards you. If He, a perfect being, can love you, then you, an imperfect being, can learn to love yourself too. Forgive and love yourself always.

I wrote this letter to myself because I felt that I needed to wake myself up and encourage myself to love myself. I hope people will realize that they should love themselves because God loves them.
