Looking back on my life I see that I have made many mistakes. All due to my lack of patience and never listening to what my elders told me. If I had only listened to their words of wisdom and took into consideration what was told, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble.

However I took my own path and did things my way, not following the guidance of my elders.

I still remember what my grandparents told me like it was just yesterday. She told me “Only fools rush in, What goes around comes around, and education is most important.”

The first valuable lesson I learned was when cheating on the final test caused me a lot of trouble. It started at ninth grade when high school was a totally new thing. I began to have many new friends and they could drive. Going out was much more fun than staying home and studying. My grandma warned me to stay more focused in school. I told her not to worry because I could always figure my way out.She also told me to work my way through anything that I wanted and “Only fools rush in”, but whatever she said seemed to go from one ear through the other. I started to come to school late everyday. If I did come on time, I would slept in class. I missed a lot of homework and class activities. So, I was already behind the class before I even knew about it. I did not know what to do when the final was about to come. I was stuck in a bad situation, so I decide to take the shortcut and cheat on the exam. Too bad, I got caught and went through a lot of bad experiences with the teachers and school principal. I only get what “Only fools rush in” means as I was sitting in the principal’s office. It was a tough experience.

It seemed like the lessons get tougher as I grow older. This is the time when my grandma talked about “what goes around, comes around”. As I got older I started to realize that life isnt all fun and games . You shouldn't joke around because you really need a education in order to make it in this world,

Another Example, I remember a tragic mistake that my friend, Wesley, made when I was a child. It was a hot August afternoon when my friends and I decided to go bike riding in the neighborhood. As we were strolling through the neighborhood, we came across this long steep hill. The hill had a massive drop that made it look daring to ride.

All of us were tempted to try the stunt. Our goal was to complete the stunt perfectly. My friend Wesley was the first to try. As Wesley accelerated down the steep hill on his BMX bicycle, he made a mistake and hit the brakes for the front wheel. The bicycle flipped over and tumbled down the hill while Wesley fell on the slope face first. His face was covered in blood and he was screaming in pain. We took him to the hospital where he was treated for severe face injuries.

Wesley’s mistake on hitting the front wheel brakes while attempting this stunt was a lesson for my friends and I. We learned that it was dangerous. Although Wesley was badly injured, my friends and I were still determined to complete this stunt. As I approached my goal, I reminisced on Wesley’s mistake and knew not to hit the front brakes. Instead I hit the back brakes which took me down the hill in a slow pace. I achieved my goal easily, thanks to what I learned from my friend’s mistake.
