A Moment in Time
I sit in the bright lights hearing the ripping of the paper. “Crreessh.” The speaker gets the crowd hype to hear the second place winners. “And the second place winner of the Young Champion National goes to...” What if we win? I pray to God with all my heart to let us win or take home second place. My heart beats like a drum. My hands shake. My mind fills with multiple questions; the what ifs and what if nots. Anxiety fills my body as I sat there praying hopeful for the best expecting the worst. “… Speedway from Indianapolis, Indiana!” My heart dropped in shock, tears of joy and relief flood my eyes. I jump out of my seat speechless not able to say anything but “We made it! We made it!”
