Chickens are such interesting little beasts. This morning my fourteen feathered friends got some time out of the coop to roam around and chase after jumping insects.
They’re so mean to each other. A little white one scratched out a nice grassy spot by the steps to lay down. As soon as she did, two black hens started scratching around her looking for beetles. They pecked at her comb, trying to get her to move.
A molting red one felt like she was being left out from the group and ran as fast as her scaly legs could carry her, making high pitched clucking noises.
She ended up by the steps, picking bits off of them. She jumped up on the top step, staring inquisitively at the blue door. The protesting sounds still coming from her. Such curious creatures.
