Bullying
Have you ever thought of the positive effects of bullying? Most people, when discussing bullying look at all the negatives. Yes, of course bullying is wrong nor do I believe anyone should participate in it. But, I do believe bullying can be turned into a positive experience for the bully and to the person getting bullied rather than letting it ruin your life, by hurting yourself, or turning to suicide for the answer. Since I am a teenager, I believe I have the authority to speak on this subject because I have both witnessed bullying and have been bullied myself. There are many solutions to stop bullying if you’re a victim because of course if you sit back and let others bully you or talk you down, then yes the bullying will get worse.
Most kids, when being a victim of bullying don’t seek advice or help from their parents. This to me is one of the main sources of the problem with bullying because it could’ve gotten better before it got worse. When teenagers don’t release their thoughts when angry, upset, or happy, they begin to hold grudges or shut down because they feel alone. When the bullying gets worse and parents begin to realize what’s been going on, of course they get upset and are angry. When I experienced bulling in 8thgrade, My mom would say and to this day say, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?! Or walk to me about it”. I would always tell her, “I didn’t want to make things worse, mom. It’s easier if you stay out of it.” She would always get so mad. Teenagers shy away from telling their parents their problems because they have a fear of the bullying getting worse. A gang of bullies is like a swarm of bees, always ready and willing to hurt whoever gets in their way. So instead of drowning yourself in the negative comments said or the bad things done to teenagers, I believe everyone has the willpower to stand up to bullying. You can be the bigger person by taking these experiences and helping other people going through the same thing, so they don’t feel alone.
Still aren’t convinced that bullying isn’t just a negative experience? Well, just look at the victims of bullying that have totally changed their life around. Those people are stronger than ever simply because they realized that “Hey, instead of dwelling on my middle school experience, I’m going to take that experience and use it to help other people going through the same thing by visiting different schools discussing bulling!” After my bullying experience, I went into high school with a new attitude, ready to take on new positive experiences. A gang of bullies is like a swarm of bee’s, always ready and willing to hurt whoever gets in their way. I think bullying makes us grow as people. "God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). I believe bullying makes people into the person they are with the experience they had and what they do with that experience is up to them, but everyone is able to turn it into something beautiful.
So who says bullying is all bad? Of course some cases are upsetting and terrible. But I truly believe that everyone can change that negative experience into a positive one. Always believe in yourself.
