Championship Game
The crowd was as crazy as a beehive.
They were shouting, screaming, and chanting our team’s name.
Game starts at 2:00, as I looked at the clock it was 1:40.
We walked out on the court, and started the drills. I missed my first three baskets and barely made the fourth.
The game was about to begin, the referee tossed the ball up and I missed the jump ball.
The basketball was launched in the air like a rocket, I jumped up to reach the ball but the other player beat me to it, knocking it out of the air to one of his teammates.
We got in our defensive positions but they still got past us and scored the first points of the quarter. Time flew, and before I knew it, the bell rang for the end of the 3rd quarter.
Our feet were lead weights anchoring us to the ground. We made it to our coach who told us that we were only one point behind and all we had to do was steal the ball in the last ten seconds.
We got back on the court, and the other team had the ball. As soon as the ball was tossed in bound, the team shot a three pointer, but missed; it bounced off the rim and fell out! We had the rebound!
We had the ball, but precious seconds were ticking away. I was the closest person to half court so Jim chucked the basketball at me. It was a bullet as it whizzed through the air. I caught it and ran as fast as I could; my breathing labored and my hand sore from pounding the ball down.
Just as I reached the free throw line, I tossed the ball up as the buzzer rang and the ball swished through! We won the game!
