Our Fate

It was early afternoon when my mom and I stepped off the platform and made our way onto the train. I loved taking the train into the city and hearing the sound of the wheels clicking on the tracks. After spending our day in center city we decided to visit my aunt who lived near South Street. As we walked back towards the subway we had to wait at a busy intersection. After we got the green light to walk I noticed my shoe became untied.
My mom had already stepped out into the street before I could I tell her to wait. I pulled her back onto the curb and as soon as her shoe hit the sidewalk a large city bus blew through the red light. My mom watched the bus continue down the street, looked back at me then smiled and said fate is a funny thing.
