Long Lost Love
I can remember the anger in the house like it was yesterday. My Aunt Trina’s tight face, and drawn up mouth. She had had enough of it. “Tanya is going to regret this; she is not pushing over on me anymore”!
Saturday afternoon, I woke up really early to the sounds of the noisy New Jersey streets. It was around 7:30 a.m., and the phone rang. Confused why anyone would call that early I answered. “Hello”?... ‘Uhmm, let me speak to Trina”. I give the phone to my Aunt Trina, and a big smile began to spread across her face. “Hi Tanya, how are you?” she asked. My mind really began racing to that name. Tanya was my mother! I was so glad that my mother had called, because I had never spoken to her. My aunt Trina hung up the phone, and came in the living room. She said, “That was your mom, and she’s coming to see you.” I remember my other sisters and brothers always talking about her, but I had never met her.
About an hour later there was a knock on the door. My aunt Trina told me to get it, but I was too scared. Aunt Trina opened the door, and in walked Tanya. “Oh my gosh, my baby”! She screamed. I was so upset. I didn’t feel any type of connection. It was just lost love.
She stayed a few days, which felt like forever. The whole time she was there all she did was complain about something. I called my dad, and told that Tanya was here. He told me that everything was going to be alright, and just to respect her.
Later on that evening, my aunt Trina, and Tanya left to go grocery shopping. I didn’t want to go with them so I stayed at home and layed on the couch. They got back home around 5:30 p.m., while I was asleep on the couch. My mom woke me up screaming at the top of her lungs! “Get up right Now; you don’t do anything around here”! It was like a switch went off in her head. She just went ballistic! Anger built up inside me. To myself im sitting here thinking, you haven’t seen me since I was born; and the first thing you come and do is yell, and holler at Me.? She told me “I don’t even know why I tried, your just nothing! You act just like your daddy. Your going to be a low life. Don’t ever think im going to come see your ugly tell again.” I was in SHOCK! There was nothing that I could say. She went and packed her bags to leave. When she left she screamed some very harsh words, and slammed the door. Every since then I haven’t seen her… It has really just been Long Lost Love.
