7,000,000,000
I am nothing more than one person in seven billion. So what can I accomplish to stand out? Why am I different? How will people remember my name instead of someone else’s?
Maybe I could shine in academics. I’ll read until I have flipped every last page, study until my eyes blood-shot red or calculate until no problem, no equation and no answer left unsolved. I’ll be able to cure cancer. Or AIDS. And learn everything there is to know. Everyone will know my name. I’m smart, but not a genius.
What about being an actor? I could star on the stages of Broadway and bless Hollywood with my appearance in movies or on TV. Then appear in comedies, tragedies, actions and be on every billboard or in every commercial ever made. Everyone will know my name. I’m charismatic, but not an actor.
I could become the greatest athlete to ever live. I might swish the game-winning jumper in Game seven or hit 100 homeruns in one season or score a touchdown every time I step foot on the field. Then I’ll go to the Olympics, out-swim Phelps in the pool, out-trick Shaun White in the pipe, out-run Bolt in the dash. Everyone will know my name. I’m athletic, but not a superstar.
It’s hard to standout in 7,000,000,000. But it’s not impossible. I standout to the people in my life that are important to me. To them I’m a genius, an actor and a superstar.
