“Jimmy!” I shouted. “Jim can you hear us?” He was too busy trying to get his sled out of the snow.

“Let’s go get him.” Tommy said. We struggled through the snow trying to get to Jimmy. We got close enough to speak to him. “Jimmy!” Tommy shouted again. Jimmy turned to look around until he saw us. He waved at us and motioned us to go to him. We started to run again toward him. It felt like it took 20 minutes to run through all that snow.

“Hey Tommy! Hey Alex! Can you guys help me, I’m kind of stuck here, hehehe.” He tried to tug his sled out of the snow again. “I was just dragging this along to the park and it got stuck here. I guess the front rim started to go down into the snow and got to a point where it couldn’t push through the snow anymore. The snow’s making it heavy to lift out.” The three of us tried to pull it out at once.

On the fifth time, Tommy bought up, “Alright, enough of this. We should all grab onto the rope attached to the sled and we all count to three. When we get to three, we all pull on the string upward as hard as we can. ” We all grabbed one part of the rope. Tommy said firmly, “Alright, one, two, three!” The three of us pulled with all our might until the sled came popping out of the snow flying in the air.

“Whoa!” Jimmy said. It landed upside-down. Jimmy went over to shake the snow off of it and then we continued our trek. We were going sledding at our neighborhood park. It was my first time, so I didn’t have a real sled. Instead it was a boogie board I got from Ocean City earlier that year. We walked and walked through two feet of snow. It took us forever to get to the park dragging sleds. We had our cell phones concealed in plastic Ziploc bags in our coat pockets. When we got to the park, Tommy ran up the hill to put his sweatshirt on the wooden fence that surrounds the soccer field. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t cold.

“Well, let’s go sledding!” I said excitedly. The three of us ran up the hill. Jimmy set his sled down right next to the fence. Tommy went right away to start sledding. He was going extreme by standing up.

“Look! I’m snowboarding! Woo hoo!” Tommy yelled. Right before he got to the bottom, he hit a bump, fell off the sled and got snow on his neck. “Aah, that’s really cold.” He shivered.

I exclaimed, “Hey, I want to try that too!” I did the exact same thing as Tommy and yes, I did fall too. We all started doing stupid tricks that could’ve really injured us. Tommy was doing the most dangerous things. At one point, the three of us decided to get on Tommy’s sled, since it was long enough, and we almost went in the sewage drain.

“That was so fun!” Jimmy said. It began to snow and the sun started to go down.

“We won’t be able to walk through all this snow up that hill.” Jimmy said.

“Ugh, I’m so tired,” Tommy groaned.

“Hmm, I guess my dad’s car can fit all our sleds. Want me to call my dad?” I asked.

“Yes please!” Tommy and Jimmy exclaimed. I immediately pulled out my phone and tapped in my dad’s number.

After three rings he answered, “Hello? Alex?”

“Hey dad, can you come pick me, Jimmy, and Tommy up?”

“Ok I’ll be there in ten minutes.” I hung up.

Tommy ended, “Best sledding trip ever!”

This trip was really fun and we actually do this every year now. This actually happened 3 years ago. It’s kind of like our new tradition we celebrate every time it snows. Tommy, Jimmy, and I still remember this memory. I know it doesn’t sound so exciting, but just because I was with my friends, it became really fun. You can’t have fun without friends or family. Even if you go on the best roller coaster in Disney World by yourself, or something simple as sledding with your friends or family, you would choose sledding over Disney World. That’s how I feel about this event.
