Around the World
Even though I am only 17, I’ve been everywhere in the US. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon, I’ve been to Mount Rushmore, and I’ve been to Las Vegas. But out of all of these landmarks, I think my favorite has to be Niagara Falls.
The constant rumbling of the water crashing into the river sounded like a never-ending thunderstorm, and the mist coming from it was very refreshing on the hot summer day we went. Although the infamous zipline is now shut down due to a death occurring from it, I was one of the many that got the opportunity to zipline over the Falls.
At first, I had no idea that I was even going on a zipline, and I would choose not to with my fear of heights as a child. But my dad deceived me as we made our way to the start of the zipline, and there was no going back now. As I was hanging there for dear life, the end of the zipline amd I were staring at each other, wanting so desperately for this to be over.
Wait, that wasn’t that bad, I thought as I completed the zipline. I was ready for round two!
I was fortunate enough to stay on both sides of Niagara Falls: The Canadian side and the New York side. If I had to choose one side I liked the most, it would have to be the Canadian side, as it was a different country (which excited me), and I did the most activities on that side, like taking a boat into the Falls and of course the zipline.
But on my last night, which was on the New York side of it, nothing will ever compare to the view of the Falls that night. They have a light show behind the water which is so beautiful and bright, almost like the Northern Lights, but behind water.
In the future, I would go back and take the people I love there to experience the excitement I had, even though I was just a kid.
