Mighty Mighty Milwaukee
Have you ever thought of Wisconsin as a dull and boring state? Well, you’re wrong. Wisconsin is an amazing state full of life and good times. One of my absolute favorite cities in Wisconsin is Milwaukee. I love Milwaukee because there is so much to do and there is something for everyone. Whether you like the lake, listening to music, sporting events, or festivals, Milwaukee has it all. Believe it or not, there is even more than that to do in this wonderful city. Some of my favorite activities to enjoy in Milwaukee are Summerfest, the State Fair, walking around the Third Ward, and going to Brewers games.
Although there is so much to do in Milwaukee, my personal favorite thing to do is go to the American Family Field to watch Brewer games. Ever since I was little, my family has always attended Brewer games. I’ve never been much of a baseball fan, and can’t say that I know exactly what's going on, but the crowd, the food, and the entertainment is what makes it worthwhile going. It’s a great way to spend time with my family and I am guaranteed to have a great time. My favorite events that happen are home runs and the Sausage Race. Every home run, Bernie Brewer holds a flag and takes a slide down to the outfield from his tree house all while fireworks go off. The Sausage Race is another unique activity that the Brewers do. Five sausage mascots (Hot Dog, Bratwurst, Polish Sausage, Chorizo, and Italian Sausage) race each other during the seventh inning stretch. I remember always having a $1 bet with my siblings and parents on who was going to win, and whoever’s mascot won, got all the money.
Another popular event I love to enjoy with my family and friends is the annual State Fair in August. There are so many things you are able to do. I personally love just walking around and trying all the unique food there is. Looking at all the different animals is also very fun. Last year when me and my family went, we saw a comedian after enjoying the fair for a few hours. There is an abundance of entertainment and always something for everyone to enjoy.
Although bigger events are fun, I also love to enjoy just walking around the Third Ward. There is so much to do such as shopping or eating at the many restaurants they have. My personal favorite thing to do in the Third Ward is shop around in the Milwaukee Public Market. I love getting juice from the juice bar and treats from their bakery. You can buy so many things here like food, flowers, clothing, treats, fresh meat, and more. I love going here because it is something you can do year round unlike Brewer games, the State Fair, and Summerfest.
One last, but certainly not least, event I love to enjoy in Milwaukee is Summerfest. Summerfest is one of the biggest music festivals in the United States. People from all over the country come to enjoy the music. I love going there with both my friends and family. There is music for everyone to enjoy and you’ll always have a good time. The very first time I went to Summerfest was when I was in 7th grade and my sister, dad, and I saw the country music duo Florida Georgia Line. Since then, I have gone back numerous times to just walk around and enjoy the music around me.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin is truly a joyful city with lots of things to do. Never boring, never dull, but always a good time!
