smiles
HI. so you're probably expecting me to type about how i made some huge act of heroism, however that's not the case. My story is about smiling. The quick action of a smile is one of the nicest acts you can make as a person. A smile can completely turn around someone's day, whether that be a friend, or a total stranger. I smile at everyone I see, and it's the first thing I notice about anyone I meet. If I walk past you, I smile, and if I see you don't smile back, I think about it for the rest of the day. What's wrong with them? I wonder what they are going through? Oh well. I'll still smile anyways. My story begins my freshman year. I remember being so terrified, thinking of all of the new, and scary things that i was about to walk into. I mean, this was high school. Supposedly the worst, or best years of your life. so I had been told. But when I walked in those doors, there she was, with a smile on her face. I didn't know her, or what she taught, I just knew that every kid walking in front of me passed her without a thought in mind. Some had earbuds in, some were talking, but some were just simply walking. Not one Single Person stopped to smile back. From that day on I made it my mission to smile at everyone. To this day, I greet that teacher every morning. I don't even know her name, I just know she smiles, and I smile back. Sometimes I even stop and talk for a bit, just to see how her morning has been. Sometimes I tell her she looks nice. Those always make her smile. And I'm asking you, the reader of this short, irrelevant story. Life is short, so please fill your story with more smiles. :)

Hello, my name is Khira and I'm a sophomore at pleasure ridge park high school. I have loved writing since about the 3rd grade, and have always wished to become a published author:). This story means a lot to me. I wrote a bit of it in my creative writing class, and added to it to enter into this contest. smiling, although is a small act, is a powerful one, and I truly believe that. I hope you feel the same, and I am very excited to enter into this contest. Even if I don't win, I hope you enjoy my short silly little story. I know I sure enjoyed writing it!
