My vignettes
Cozy, calm, and safe. My house consists of 10 rooms, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, the kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry room, and mud room. Sometimes you can smell dinner cooking other times you can smell the warm aroma of the laundry. The smells flow around the house which is why I feel like my house is a home. Sometimes there are muddy paws on the cold floor which means it rained the day before. They track all over the house and if you follow them carefully you might find my dog Mookie.
When I was in 5th grade we got our living room and dining room done. Ittook almost 8 months to finish, so for that time we couldn’t use the kitchen. We had no TV so my family spent a lot of time together. I remember thinking about how much different the house was going to after because it did not look the same. Now 5 years later the house feels more like a home than ever because I realized it is not what it looks like but what you do to make it feel like home.
The memories are held in cracks in the walls, chips in the paint, and the lines my mom drew to track me and my sisters heights as we got older. If I were to move anywhere I want it to feel like home. Nothing has to be perfect just somewhere where me and whom ever else can settle down and enjoy life. A ranch house would be my dream… Somewhere that has an earthy feel where I can have lots of animals.
