My mom picked my sister and me up. She said, “Girls, something is wrong.” I laughed, thinking she was kidding. But I was wrong to laugh.
My dog Maggie went to the emergency vet with my dad. She was quiet when he got home. Life changed. As I knew it.

The vet explained my dog and companion is sick. She had--- cancer. It felt as if my heart stopped. I didn’t know what else to do but cry. He explained to us he could help us. There is a surgery. A surgery, could take out the cancer. She would live much longer if it worked.

We said the surgery is worth it. Maggie got that surgery. But she wasn’t the same after. She wasn't herself. Her personality changed. But she was getting better. Only to hit us again that the surgery wasn’t working. Life changed. As I knew it.

She was a special dog. She wasn't naughty ever. An old soul at heart. That October changed my life. We put her down. She got to sick. I never lost a person/animal before. This hit me more than I ever could imagine. Life changed. As I knew it.
