It was Cold.
I couldn't feel my hands, feet, lips, anything.
It was so Cold.
You were warm in that dark room.
The water was so freezing Cold.
It enveloped me, and you removed the dangerous wrapping.
The water wanted to swallow me Hole.
But you put me out, we knew that pocket,
So why did I fall in, and for so long?
Maybe because it was so Dark.
Darkness was a cloud on the brain, two more feet until the drop-off.
No, it was right there.
It was so very Dark.
I was scared, so you held me, shivering, chattering, tearing-up.
The Darkness was a veil.
I couldn't see me, you, or the clothes you put on me.
Why did we wait there?
Why didn't we care snow started covering the entrance?
Why did we think Dark Exploring would be fun?
Because it was.
I learned your favourite colour is now blue, instead of black. Mine reverse of that effect.
I learned you had an Akita, the start of my love for them.
I learned that you, only you, do I owe something to.
You saved my life, from the Cold, from the Dark, from the Nightmares.
You save me again and again, a phone call away, always.
We went into the dark, and we learned how much we loved the sun's warmth.

The author's comments:
I was in a cave, buddied up with a guy from my Crew and I fell into a pocket of water because we thought 'Dark Exploration' as we liked to call it, would be fun... In the winter.
I fell into a pocket that is ALWAYS in that cave and almost died of hypothermia. My buddy saved me and is now my best friend.
