I Miss It A Lot
I saw a picture of an old fort today. You know, the kind you made every other day when you were little, with blankets and pillows and whatever you could find. You’d put all your favorite things in it, crawl in and lay down. Close the door and not let anyone else in. And in was the safest place in the world.
On your back, looking up at the light through the patterns of the blankets. Listening to yourself breathe, tracing the stitching on the pillows. Everything just being ok.
I miss it a lot.
