In fourth grade, I moved to Porter Ranch, a city I only knew by name. Leaving the friends of my entire childhood, we cried over our devastation and loss. However, still depressed after the move, I soon realized that I needed a new perspective. This attempt at a positive view turned misfortune into opportunities. Strangers gradually became friends, intimidating areas transformed into exciting classrooms, and most importantly, this foreign environment became my home where I was loved and belonged. Now, having moved on to high school as a freshman, I aspire to use this perspective to embrace my new environment.
