We Could Be MAG

By Anonymous

   It's so strange

to see

us wasting our lives

away.

Fighting, war,

prejudice, hate,

it seems so pointless

to me.

We are so

egotistical

to think

we are

the climax

of the universe.

We could be

a science project

of a child,

just a split second

of an experiment

called evolution.

We could be

in an aquarium,

our universe

just a mere air bubble.

We could be

the reflection

of someone

looking into

a pond

much larger than ours.

We could be

one of many

eggs in a womb,

our growing population

the egg

rapidly dividing.

We could be

a coin

in a funnel,

centripetal force

keeping us

moving.

We could be

the cell

of another,

so small -

no wonder we think

there is no end.

But wherever we are,

whatever we are,

we must always

keep in mind

that the experiment

might fail.

The bubble

might burst,

wind might

taint the reflection.

The egg

might be no longer an egg,

the coin

might stop.

And the cell

might die.
