This is a story a friend of mine sent me.
I thought I'll publish it.
(He said it was okay)
She was in the class looking at the whiteboard trying to understand what the teacher was saying.
I only saw her hair and I really wanted to see her face.
But how could I do that?
I gathered up courage and went to the class door and knocked.
"Excuse me,sir."I said
Everyone turned around. I saw her face and she looked at me too but quickly turned to the front and started to copy what was written in the board.
"Yes?"asked the sir
"Um,is Melody in this class?"I asked eventhough I never knew anyone by the name Melody.
The girl turned around.
"Melody?"the sir asked looking at the class
"I'm Melody sir."said the girl looking at me and then at the sir
"Go and see what it is and come quickly."said the sir
Melody nodded and headed towards me.She came out of the class and I stepped back.
I looked at her and I had no idea of what to say.
"Why did you want to talk to me?"asked Melody
I thought and thought but all that came to my mind was a dictionary.
"Do you have a dictionary?"I asked
She was annoyed and I could see that.
"You brought me out of the class,to ask for a dictionary?"she asked
I looked down.
"Look you may not be interested in learning but I am and this is my hardest subject."she said
"Hardest?"I asked
"Yeah,why?"she asked
"Maybe I could help.What's the subject?"I asked
"Chemistry."she said
Yes! My favorite subject ! Wohoo!
"I'm really good in chemistry maybe I could teach you."I said
The girls face lit up quickly.
"Really?That would be great!"she said
"My name's Jack."I said
"I'm Melody,nice to meet you."said Melody with a smile
I shook her hand
"Um,I better go now."said Melody
"Yeah sure.See you after school at the cantine?"I asked
"Sure.Bye"said Melody going into the class
I was so happy and surprised at myself.
I have never had the courage to talk to a girl before and I have never said that I would teach her or asked her to meet me after school.
So eventually school ended.
Yeah!
I quickly packed my bag and almost forgot my maths book in my hurry to get to the cantine.
Darn this traffic.
"Make way,make way! You're going to make me late for my appointment with Melody!"I said to the crowd as I pushed past them saying as I knocked them.
Finally I reached the cantine.
"Great! Now I've got to search for Melody!"I said in my head
Then I saw her searching for me.I went over to her.
"Hi."I said
"Hi,shall we go?I don't like the crowd and my mom's probably waiting for me."said Melody
"Sure,let's go."I agreed
"So when do you want to have the classes?"I asked Melody
"Um,how about Monday?My sister has french classes on monday and I'm usually alone in the library."said Melody
"Sure then monday it is."I said with a smile
"I got to go,bye."she said leaving me
I nodded but I thought she hadn't left so I asked "So you're a reader?"
"Huh?"asked someone else near me.
"Oh sorry."I said
Melody had gone.
I waved to her and she waved back.
"Monday afternoon.Oh no, mom asked me to take care of lily on mondays till she came to pick us up ! Now what?"I thought
"No problem just ask lily to join you to study."said my mom when I told her about Melody and me going to teach her.
"Yeah sure."I said eventhough I wasn't sure if Melody would like it.
So Monday came and afterschool I went to Melody's class.
"Hi Jack! Ready to teach me today?"she asked
"Yeah but we'll be having company."I said
"Really?A freind?"she asked
"No,my younger sister."I said
"Really?Oh I just love kids!"she said
"Ok then let's have the class downstairs at the tables." I said " Drop your sister at the bus and come.I'll wait at the desks."
Melody nodded and climbed the stairs that led to her sisters class.
She was such a good sister,she was very concerned about her sister that once she had given her own lunch to her sister and stayed hungry for the whole day!
Wonder if I'll ever do that for lily!
Melody came down to the tables and she saw my sister.
"Who are you?"asked Lily going to Melody
"I'm Melody.Your brothers freind.You're Lily right?"asked Melody bending down to Lily's level.
"Yes.I didn't know my brother had any freinds that are girls!"said Lily
"That's enough lily."I said
"Really what kind of friends does your brother normally have?"asked Melody
"None but I have to go now."said Lily coming to me "Brothers orders."
"This is going to be tough"I thought
Throughout the whole lesson all that Lily could think of doing was making Melody laugh and annoy me.
Melody was a really good student but Lily would make her laugh every five minutes.
"Thanks for the lesson,Jack."says Melody after the lesson
"You're welcome but did you really understand what I said?"I asked
"Are you kidding?You're a great teacher! I remember every word you said."said Melody with a smile
"Oh really?And what did I say?"I asked
"Umm let me see,oh I remember.You said will you please shut up Lily?I'm having trouble teaching Melody! You also said that NaCl was the chemical formula for salt then you said Lily for the hundreth time,stop making Melody laugh! Do you want to know what else you said?"asked Melody
"No that's quite enough."I said.
This girl really knew how to answer a question.
I went to sleep that night thinking about all the things that Melody had said.
"You spent a lot of time awake last night,didn't you?"asked Lily
"I couldn't sleep so I stayed awake till I felt sleepy."I said
"Mhhm,you were too busy thinking about Melody to think about sleeping,weren't you elder brother?"asked Lily
"Would you please stop being so interested in what Melody and I do?"I asked my sister with an annoyed look
"Sorry,I really like Melody that's all."said Lily and I smiled at her "I just wanted to see her become my sister-in-law!" she said as she got up from the table and ran to her room with her plate.
"LILY!"I shouted
"WHAT?"asked my mother coming into the kitchen
"Nothing mother!"I said
"Then don't shout ! "shouted my mother
I realised how funny it was that my mother was asking me to stop shouting when she was shouting herself.
But I didn't dare mention it to her.
My mother went out of the kitchen very angry with me for shouting in the house.
I wash my plate and go to my room to get my library books.
"MUM ! I'M GOING TO THE LIBRARY!"I shouted going out of the house
My mother only disliked it when we shouted inside the house so it wouldn't hurt shouting outside the house.Would it? At least that's what my sister says.
"Did you eat your breakfast and wash your plate?"asked my mother coming to close the door.
"Yes mother."I said with a smile
"You're a really good boy,you know that Jack? "asks my mother "Go now and be safe,dear."
My mother stroked my hair. I smiled "I'll come home safely,mother.Don't worry."I said
"Go then ."said my mother with a smile
I went out of the house and then to the library.
"Jack? What are you doing here?"asked Melody when she met me in the library
"Um,trying to borrow a book."I said
"Oh yeah,how silly of me."Said Melody with a smile
I smiled too "So did you find a book?"I asked
"No."said Melody
"I'll help you."I said
"I thought you were only a expert in chemistry."said Melody
"Well now you know."I said with a smiled
Melody smiled as well.
I USED TO THINK DESTINY WAS VERY CRUEL TO ME BECAUSE NO ONE LIKED TO BE MY FREIND.(Except for you)
BUT I THINK I WAS WRONG.
