Sandy Hook Outlook
The room; completely silent yet echoing in fear and and inhabited by a robbery,
a robbery of children's innocence. Smiles evolved into looks of despair as tears
pooled into the little eyes of the helpless victims. The victims, so fragile, so
in need of protection, crammed into dark spaces just like their minds were
crammed with dark thoughts. Scared, sacred, silent disrupted with antagonizing
words. Such frightening, deadly words, spoken by a deadly villain. The piercing
words became underwhelming in comparison to the volume of the gun shots. Shot
after shot until 26 victims were banished from life. 20 young souls that lost
the opportunity to change the world and 6 hero's that the world needs more human
beings like. And at last the murderer, dead. A disgrace of man kind, a
disgusting excuse of the human race, a coward whom took away sisters, brothers,
daughters, sons, just in time to steal the families of a merry holiday season.
The country mourns for the community as the innocent kids and adults climb the
stairway to heaven with a welcoming hand from Jesus, our savior, inviting the
victims into a land without evil, vanishing the fear from their eyes and
replacing it with hope and awe, while sending angels to watch after the
collection of broken hearts on earth. The survivors, fearful of receiving an
education and dreading returning to school without their classmates by their
side. The parents of the gone but not forgotten children, enduring what all
parents would feel after their beautiful, god given, creation is ripped away
from their loving arms, sorrow, grief, numbness. And the parents of the
surviving children, first relieved that their child is in their presence, but
then overcome with guilt that their child was blessed with another day of life
while their peers are suffering from an unfortunate turn of events. A massacre,
a cold hearted massacre, destroying families, breaking hearts, leaving the
country in an unstable state, all for what? The mystery of it all, how could a
stranger to these children go on a killing rampage and deprive these optimistic,
brilliant souls of their high school prom, their graduation, their wedding? The
question of how someone could be so angry that they could attack sweet children
and life changing school staff members will forever be unanswered and
unexplainable. As human beings it is our duty to assure Newton, CT, that as time
passes so will the sorrow, it will not disappear but it will get easier, hearts
will mend and happiness that seems so far out of reach will eventually be
restored in the palms of the country's hand. Hug your family members harder this
new year for the families that can't, and pray that we, as a country, will not
have to suffer from overwhelming tragedy.
