Drugs Don't Make You Look Cool

Statistics show that during middle school that’s when young teens start to learn more about drugs and alcohol . Why would kids such a young age start getting into drugs ? Well most young teens 14 and up get introduced by drugs and alcohol because of pressure form their surroundings .

One day during middle school at lunch my friend and I was next to a group of people . My friend and I over heard them talking about drugs and how they had some on them . One girl that I recognized was this girl , who I had for 5th period , named Julie . I saw that her friends trying to convince her to smoke with them after school . I didn’t say anything because I thought she wasn’t going to do that because me and her have talked before and she seems nothing like that all . Julie was a straight A student , she was never late to class , she always was at school . I for one , thought that her friends were joking around about them having drugs with them because it was school , who would of thought that someone can bring a couple of drugs and not get caught ? So me and my friend just decided to walk away and before we knew it lunch was over .

I got to my 5th period class and of course like all the other days I saw Julie . I decided to talk to her about what I had over heard . I asked her if she was going to actually listen to her friends about using drugs . Like any regular teen she said she didn’t know and that she didn’t want to be made fun of . I tried talking her out of it and well for the most part it seemed like I had pretty much convinced her that , drugs , isn’t a smart choice especially how she is doing so good in Middle school . Well class had ended and me and Julie went our own ways to our 6th periods . During my 6th I couldn’t help but wonder if i had really talked some sense into Julie of not using drugs . But then again I didn’t even know if her friends were serious or not ? I didn’t hang out with them so all I could do is wait until tomorrow during 5th period and talk to Julie and see if , her friends were serious , or even if she had tried .

Ring ! The school bell had rang ! It was time to go home , finally . I did my normal routine of walking home . I usually walk through a park because its faster to get to my house that way . I stayed a couple minutes after school to pick up my books from my locker to bring home so I can do my homework , after that I started walking home . About 5 minutes into walking I had reached the park , as I was walking into the park I saw Julie and her friends , they weren’t doing anything bad so I thought they were just joking about the drugs. Before I knew it I heard a voice in the distance calling out my name , I look to see who is calling my name , its Julie . So I waited for her to walk to me and as she gets to me , I smell she has smoked marijuana , I asked her why does she smell like that and her reply was I don’t know . I tell her to lets go sit down for a little and as I look at her eyes their slowly closing . I didn’t know what to do I peaky saying her name to see what she would do but before I knew it boom ! She was unconscious , of course we weren’t the only ones at the park so people came to rush to see if she was okay and one lady even called for help . I for one was so scared I didn’t know what she had done or anything and her friends had already left .Finally about 4 minutes later the ambulance comes and takes her to the hospital.

As I arrive home , I told my mom what had just happened , and asked if she can call Julies mom and tell her whats wrong . So as my mom speaks on the phone with Julies mom ,i cant help but wonder if Julie is okay . Me and my mom ended up going to the hospital ware they had Julie on Iv and Julies mom went to go ask the Dr. if she was going to be okay and what had happened. As the Dr explained to her what happen Julies mom couldn’t help but break down . Good news is that Julie was going to be alright , bad news is that she overdosed on pills and marijuana.

About a week later Julie had gotten out of the hospital , I talked to her and she told me she regrets not listening to me . I asked her why she had done it , her response was that she felt like she was being pressured to do it . She said they were all telling her to , and sense she was the only one out of 5 people saying she didn’t want to do drugs , well she felt she wasn’t “cool enough” for them and well she didn’t want to be known as the “wimp” or anything so she did it . Apparently she doesn’t even remember what she was doing half the time .

Until this day Julie is so glad she made it alive . Even Dr's were surprised , but happy , she made it alive because the amount of drugs she had in her body were deadly . Julie has never done any time of drug sense . She says that she feels stupid how she made her “friedn's” pressure her into doing something she never thought about doing , and that she is never going to do such a unthinkable thing.

The End .
