Best Years of Your Life

I go to school with a smile
No one cares to look my way
I watch my feet as they pass the tile
I feel surrounded like a lion’s prey

These are the best years of my life

I go to class and talk to him
His friends all laugh and joke
He turns away and starts to grin
I should have never spoke

These are the best years of my life

Today is the day of my speech presentation
My heart racing and my palms are sweaty
All I can think about is my own cremation
Why are my peers to petty?

These are the best years of my life

They stare at the way I am dressed
I stand in silence wearing a stained T-shirt
My peers gawk at me, oblivious that they are blessed
My pants are too short from last year’s growth spurt

These are the best years of my life

It’s lunch time now finally time to eat
I feel like no one wants me around
I walk around looking for a seat
So I sit alone and stare at the ground

These are the best years of my life

As I eat in seclusion I see a shadow on the ground
I look up from my lunch to see who it could be
He looks like a delusion all dressed in brown
Come sit with us he said, my friends and me

These are the best years of my life
