Not Psyched
“Psych” is a funny show. What’s not funny is the attitude presented towards transgender people in the show. In the episode “Who Ya Gonna Call” a man believes a ghost is trying to kill him. Upon further investigation, Shawn Spencer finds a home in the attic belonging to one of the man’s multiple personalities, who is actually a transgender woman. Meaning that while she has the body of a man, she is for all effective purposes a woman. Shawn and Gus’ flippant comments and obvious digust about her gender were hurtful. I hope that in the future “Psych” will be more respectful and that the people who watched this don’t think that it is appropriate.
