The chilling poem "A Day in the City", by Lindsy Weyrick, is a direct message to the shooter of a young girl, and is one of the most impactful poems I have ever read. The piece starts out happy, but slowly gets more intense as Lindsy questions whether the man carrying the gun ever even saw the girl whose life he took. Whether fictional or nonfictional, it covers so well the topic of too many people, especially the children in our society, being killed, and it rouses up so much emotion and thought in me.

(What if that had been my sibling,
or my cousin,
or my friend,
or my future child?
What if that had been me?)

Thank you, Lindsy, for sharing this poem with us.
