Aww Nuts
"Karen" writes a very personal health memoir talking about every parents' worst nightmare: children going into anaphylactic shock. "Aww Nuts" explains how eating ice cream turned into a harsh reality. Not knowing about your allergies can put your life on pause; for "Karen," she had to leave her friend's birthday party, later being rushed to the hospital.
This article was taken to the heart when I read it because I've been in the same situation as her. On my mom's birthday, I had eaten chocolate that nuts in it and was later rushed to the hospital during school. Even though I dislike thinking about that memory, it made me realize that allergies make everybody unique. And, just like "Karen," "I get special desserts and extra caution when a chef makes my food."
