16 and Definitely Not Pregnant
Just from the title of Gabriela Rodriguez's memoir, "16 and Definitely Not Pregnant," the reader is already intrigued. Relatable, interesting, and humor-filled, this brilliantly written piece is about a "goody-two shoes" type of girl who is struggling to have a fun time at a party while trying to stay true to her values.
"Who knows what the right thing to do is when society is so contradictory- when parents want you to be that goody-two-shoes with Ivy League potential, but every teenager in the world seems to be coaxing you to breaking your good-girl habits?" This line can be found relatable to many teens- the decision of choosing grades over parties or vice versa. Gabriela advices teens to somehow find a balance between both and "find happiness and laughter now, because the future is too far away and too ambiguous to wait for."
