I read “King Worm” by Robert Hwang. King Worm was about Robert who was being bullied by a boy named Eric. He compared himself to a worm. Instead of telling a teacher or something, he decided to become a bully himself. He compared himself to a King Worm. He punched a new kid named Adam repeatedly in the back until one day Adam’s dad sent Robert a picture of Adam’s back. It was covered in bruises. Robert wanted to confess to his dad but he was sure his dad would just scold him so he just didn't tell his dad.
The title “King Worm” caught my attention because I wasn't sure what the story was going to be about. I feel that in the story Robert shouldn't have bullied Adam after he was bullied because two wrongs don't make a right. I really liked the line “I decided to become the King Worm”. This piece made me think that maybe a lot of bullies were once bullied themselves.
