"Drown"
“Drown” by Thomas E is a specific piece of writing that deals with the topic of depression, self evaluation and the choice of giving up on life. It allows people to be able to see the difficulties in life we sometimes face and how they play with our emotions.
This story is sort of a way to show many people, whether young or old, to see the darkness and consequences one takes up when feeling like this, and the only way of making these feelings go away is to leave life—in this case suicide, specifically drowning. Sometimes when people are going through this situation, the only things that seem to stick with them are the negatives, and none of the positives.
“Drown” allowed me to think about all the things that we say to one another, and what the thoughts that slip out of us do to people and how those comments can really affect us.The teen thinks that if they drown, it will make the pain and suffering go away but really, it just spreads it to someone else. It’s important to ignore the things happening that can be difficult to handle, and more of the outcome of it all, and how it can truly shape us into being the person that we become in the end.
