In "The Note That Holds a Thousand Feelings", author Cecile reflects on her rocky relationship and feelings regarding her father. She talks about his drug addiction, how it means more to him "than your kids ever will". She talks about how he went to jail, and how she gave her father money knowing it wasn't the right thing to do, but she was too scared to lose him again. In the memoir, she mentions how her father taught her never to trust a boy, but he "Broke my heart before any boy could."

This memoir is a beautiful reflection on what it means to be a father, and how you can miss and love someone with all your heart but still know that they aren't necessarily good for you or a good poerson. It made me, personally, so grateful for my healthy family life, something that I have taken for granted in the past. Cecile did a beautiful job painting a picture of the struggles she's overcome regarding her dad, and letting the reader into her brain and how she feels.
