Coping with an Addicted Parent
The writing titled “Coping with an Addicted Parent,” written by Heather, talks about addiction. Her writing left me feeling surprised. I was surprised when I was reading the text when I saw how many people have to live with some sort of addict because Heather wrote, “In America, 25% of children grow up in households with substance abuse present.” I never knew that addiction was this bad and trying to cure their addiction in even worse. The shocking part about coping with addicts is to do nothing. When Heather wrote, “You have to give them space in order for them to heal.” I couldn’t believe it! If someone they love leaves them, then they will realize their addiction and try to fix it. This article has showed me what most of our nation’s population has to deal with every day of their lives.
