Fast Fashion: Friend or Foe?
Ever-evolving, innovative, and individually unique, fashion and the way we dress has become a priority among our generation. The recent Met Gala and New York Fashion Week have inspired teens all over the world to go on a spending spree. That being said, not everyone can afford to keep up with the newest trends. Enter fast fashion; the cheaper quality and finance equivalent to higher-end stores. Many people know and love stores such as Shein, Zara, or Urban Outfitters, and praise them for their affordable and trendy items. What they don’t know, however, is that these brands pollute the environment, use inferior material, and underpay their workers. With these companies becoming more and more popular, the problem has only worsened. It is our responsibility to ourselves, others, and the beautiful earth we call home to expel the fast-fashion industry and to make up for the damages caused by our irresponsible purchases.
