In the Woods
A quiet snap resounded through the woods known only to the boy hidden inside it. It was the sound of his adoptive mother warning him to hide as something was on her trail that, or something else was near, either way he climbed the branches of the nearest tree with an almost inhuman grace, Flinching only slightly as the branch he was on seemed to bend at his weight, still, from this position, he could easily survey the slightly damp forest floor below. His senses filling with the moist scent of the pine underneath him and noticing its needles poking his face. He glanced up to see if he could spot whatever was coming near and eased at the sight of an owl swooping down by the creek, if the owl was calm then whatever it was couldn’t be too far out of the ordinary still he hadn’t heard his mother’s signal saying that it was ok to come out, so he stayed in the tree. There has to be a reason his mother told him to hide, or was it even his mother?
