---simile used: ‘like a dead pool of water’ indicates how there was complete, dead silence, an atmosphere so absent of sound, that tension was created.
---uses of verbs: ‘Charging and closing in’ instead of ‘moving’ or ‘running’. Which made the condition more dangerously and scarily, because the creations were not only moving but toward you, closing in upon you, make the ‘cliff’ higher, so the abrupt halt of the story could be more successful.
